I got my current work laptop 💻 n 2022. A System76 Lemur Pro. I just had to change the battery in it for the 2nd time. It will swell to the point where the track pad is nearly unusable. Let alone any fire concerns. Old and new pictured.

This could get us arrested (again), but some causes are worth the risk.

Tagged a 1.0 release on the bot blocker module for #drupal. I was weighing a more advanced approach, but decided it would benefit more folks to just tag what I had. Welcome to any comments in the module roadmap issue here.

Module Roadmap
Right now, this module is rather simple. It has two means to identify and block potential bots. By the a defined user agent substring - i.e. a self-identified bot By detecting older browser versions t...

That's nice I guess, but the bots we are having problems with aren't identifying themselves as Bots at all. they just look like normal user browsers for the most part.

In some organizations, big wigs think they are making good decisions by paying more for SaaS solutions for their websites, meanwhile in just giving away features for #Drupal for free.

I had a scheduled deploy for my new Bot Blocker module right after a DDoS attack started. I think the module is working.

I had to investigate a security alert for a website because the word "select" appeared in a POST request more than 3 times when someone was saving a node. Pretty sure half of the people going into cyber security are idiots.

Remember logging into a website, seeing a notification, and it was something that actually had something to do with you?
June 11, 2025 at 5:33 PM
I remember back in the day, I used to have a set of websites I'd check every morning. News, blogs, and web comics. I feel ashamed to admit that I basically only go to reddit now, and I can't even name the sites I used to visit.

I just published a new #Drupal module to block bot traffic in more ways. www.drupal.org/project/bot_...
Bot Blocker
This module will allow site admins to block requests based on: Sub strings that occur in the user agent of the request. Older browser versions.

I had to look up what "Vibe coding" was, because I didn't know if I've been doing it or now.

Ok, at a basic level it's non-devs asking AI to build apps for them. I certainly use AI a lot to write code for me, but I'm more than capable of debugging and improving the code it generates.

I'll believe headless infrastructure has any practical use when a menu for common paths that never change doesn't need 5 seconds to appear after page load.

I can’t stand it when people cherry pick their data.

Anyway, I have a terrible case of laryngitis at the moment. I wondered if drinking whisky would soothe it. Lots of sources say no, but I found this one article by a distillery that says yes. dartmoorwhiskydistillery.co.uk/will-whisky-...
