What you’re describing sounds like some of the feedback I get when I describe Apple TV or HBO as “commercial-free”. Small contingent argues that these services are *not* commercial-free because they show pre-roll previews for other shows and movies on the service. Those aren’t like commercials.

I don’t mind those sponsor reads. They’re few and far between, and tend to be professionally polished. It’s night and day compared to watching any amount of YouTube when I’m not logged into my premium account.

Good question. It wasn’t really “an industry” event. It was a Lê event. He invited people whom he thought could spread the word about what Hop Sing was going to be like. And I had a lot of Twitter followers and a serious taste for booze. So I was on the list of invitees.

I enjoy your work. I think you’re a thoughtful and perspicacious analyst, and fundamentally a good guy.

But I *love* rooting against your asinine NFL picks. I can’t explain this well of hatred it taps into.

I never argued that it isn’t enticing. I’m arguing that it won’t be worth it in the long run once they start tightening the lock-in screws.
