It's easy to be overcritical of things and feel like enjoying them is "wrong" or a "guilty pleasure". It's easy to plug your ears and shut down criticism of things you like. Both of these things stop real appreciation of any art form. So just love what you love and think about why you love it (6/6)

Dragon Ball z, one of the most beloved series of all time is full of bloat and power creep, attempts to break the mold that were walked back (Gohan taking over for Goku), and characters conveniently forgetting their growth (mostly a problem with DB super). I still cry when Gohan beats cell tho (5/?)

Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju is another favorite of mine, while I believe it's nearly a 10/10 I acknowledge that the first couple of episodes are kind of slow to hook new people in. The ending twist is also kind of grimace inducing and uncomfortable. But it's still a series I love

My favorite anime of all time is Gurren lagann, I have no delusions keeping me from understanding that the pacing isn't great. Episode 4 is not only the low point of the series but One of the lowest points of gainax/trigger. But I don't let that keep me from loving that series (3/?)
