9/ If we don’t show up, decisions could be made without us.
Let’s make sure our community, our forests, and our trails have a future.
📢 Be there May 14. Speak up. Help protect Moose Mountain and West Bragg Trail Networks.

7/ Last time, your presence led to:
✔️ Smaller cutblocks
✔️ Buffers around trails
✔️ Reduced visual impact
✔️ Reduced overall harvest
📢 Now we need to speak directly to the Government.

5/ 🔥 Important context:
Standard forest harvesting does not reduce wildfire risk long-term.
Clearcut areas are replanted with dense conifer stands—highly flammable—on top of dry leftover fine fuels.
The 2023 ABMI report showed younger forests burned more.

4/ We could see even more clearcutting in West Bragg far sooner than expected.

We don’t have confirmation yet—but we do know this:
📍 The open house is our chance to ask questions and push for answers.

3/ In practice, “fuel reduction” in Kananaskis often means clearcutting.

We also know that nearly all the mature forest left in West Bragg is already scheduled for harvest between 2031–2040...

1+1 likely = 2.

2/ What's changed?

Alberta has introduced a Community Hazardous Fuel Reduction (CHFR) program that aims to reduce wildfire risk around communities by removing/modifying flammable vegetation.

It applies to a 5km zone around Bragg Creek.

How does this affect the Trail Network?
