Highly educated owl.
@gruber.foo The cause of Buttfield-Addison's account lockout is beside the point. Regardless of cause, it's wholly unacceptable for Apple's policy when locking your AppleID to effectively brick all logged in devices and insist the only solution is to buy new devices and accept data loss.

One of the worst things movies and TV has done to us is create the expectation that you have to “understand” art in order to enjoy it. Like, you can just go to a museum and enjoy how pretty the pictures are. You can watch people dance and just think it looks neat. No narrative required.

@kibblesmith.com Really enjoyed your time on Never Not Funny recently. Since you mentioned being new to sports and looking for things to occupy your brain now that baseball is over, may I introduce you to @thepwhl.com? My wife and I picked it up for similar reasons last year and we're all-in now.

I dunno Airbnb, I kinda feel like folks on an ad-supported tier of Peacock probably aren’t in the market for a personal chef.

@iconfactory.com Hey guys. I'm kicking the tires on Tot and liking it a lot overall, but the Markdown situation is left very vague in the documentation. Is there somewhere I can see what Tot supports rather than just trying out every Markdown feature for myself one at a time? Thanks!

Excellent first impression.

Do you think we all have anxiety because we made Fear mad with all those No Fear t-shirts in the 90’s?

I'm genuinely astonished at how "rebus" went from meaning "a puzzle combining pictures and letters" to "we're going to stuff a bunch of extra letters in this crossword puzzle square."

So as far as I can tell, the big-picture UI strategy at @adobe.com over the last decade is to slowly phase out the options bar in all apps, move most of those tools to the Properties palette, and the rest to a floating toolbar whose number one mission is to be directly in your way at all times. A+

@gruber.foo While I overall agree entirely with your take on the value of Chrome (and Perplexities very silly bid), you keep skipping over the value of the Chrome brand itself. Outside the tech enthusiast bubble, Chrome = Browser, the same way Xerox = Copier. This is what Perplexity is after.

While we can all agree the internet was largely a mistake, I do love it when I'm reading a rant about how bad something is and it makes me realize that the actually sounds like exactly what I've been looking for.

All the talk about Superman’s politics is just a distraction from the fact that the man’s last name is *Corn* *Sweat*

I am curious what data lead every single company on earth that makes an air fryer to conclude that, when considering an air fryer, consumers' number one priority is "Can it cook a whole chicken? Because that is the main thing I want to do with my air fryer."

I'm not even trying to be an asshole when I say this but—I literally can not remember the last time I noticed iOS and macOS adding a feature that made my experience using their products better. And I can think of dozens of ways the experience has gotten dramatically worse.

I don't understand the phrase "cat-like reflexes." I just punched my cat in the face and he barely even defended himself.

The worst part is that now we’ll never get that bean-eating movie. RIP George Wendt.

Reading Pro Tip: If—when reading a mystery novel—you think “Oh I bet they’re the killer.” after each new character is introduced, you can legally claim to have figured it out when the killer is revealed.

Yeah, but what if I want it a different way? You didn’t think about that, did you Backstreet Boys. No, because you only think about yourself.

Everyone in your life that did a Bane voice has replaced it with a Nosferatu voice.

If you publish a crossword puzzle on the internet, you should be legally required to publish your phone number along with it so I can contact you and you can explain yourself.

Joni Mitchell failed to consider that maybe we’re paving over paradise because we have seasonal allergies.

As with every snow day, I once again wonder why we have a different word for "bad" that we only use in association with weather. Weird.
