I think that despite it's rocky start, Lords of the fallen has done more to innovate in the genre than From. In it's current state it's an underrated gem

I remember one of the maps had the whole of the map recursively inside a sphere in the centre of itself 🤯 you could go inside the sphere and end up back at the edge of the map
