A rare psych folk album from 1972 is going well on eBay

It was recently unearthed in a Dorset charity shop

They are still out there

Sad - but I’m guilty of looking at the vinyl setups and storage in the posh property mags

This is from the latest Elle Decoration

Interesting choice of display albums (Jagger, Darts, Sutherland Brothers & Quiver). I’m not being sniffy- honest!

Saw this in a charity shop today - another MGM work of art

RIP Danny Thompson (1939-2025). He leaves behind an astonishing discography of wonderful vinyl. Here’s a favourite among many, many favourites that we will be spinning today

Stumbled across a Jamaican press of Gregory Isaacs’ debut in a charity shop (£4) - worth it for the Ford Capri on the cover alone

They are still out there

Proof that they are still out there in the wild

A mate just found a copy of this prog folk holy grail in a charity shop for a £1 (signed as well). Pretty good work - as there’s currently one on eBay with a bid of £810 on it!

I suppose I could pretend not to be jealous

This is different. A turntable that uses an optical sensor rather than a stylus - and plays your vinyl vertically, you can even mount it on your wall (if you trust your DIY skills that is)

It’s called the Miniot Wheel 3. We’re intrigued

Has to be one of the cooler Scottish Championship third kit / Skids debut album collaborations out there this season. Good work from Dunfermline Athletic

Stickers on record boxes? Now you’re talking

Seen this ad? A denim jacket that proudly displays the album of your choice. It’s got to be the ideal way of showing the world that you own a Nick Drake first press… hasn’t it?

Rest in peace, Mick Ralphs

Groovy Times has a massive soft spot for this on vinyl

An interesting recent charity shop find - £3 (they still exist! Though barely)

The Fence - Harold McNair (B & C Records, 1970). Sleeve was issued with a pink pouch with a balloon inside. These are long gone but still a cool album

Rest in peace, Sly. Thanks for the albums

Is this his greatest moment on VINYL? Groovy Times thinks so. Saying that, there’s plenty to choose from

Unearthed a nice Chris Farlowe album. Paint it Farlowe. 1966. On Immediate, bright pink label, produced by Mick Jagger. Canadian press

Just one thing - there’s a hole punched out of the top left hand corner. Is there anything more savage in the world of collecting vinyl than a drill hole deletion?

RIP Junior Byles

RIP David Thomas of Pere Ubu

A great moment on vinyl:

Side 1, track 1: Non-alignment pact

In its review of 2024 - retail association ERA revealed the average cost of a new album on vinyl is £27.76

In terms of relatable comparisons that’s the equivalent of five and half pints of beer and a couple of bags of crisps

I can’t work out if that’s a good deal or not?

It’s Mark E Smith’s birthday today. He would have been 68

Quick question to mark the occasion: Is this album his greatest moment on vinyl?

And if not, what is?

Side 1. Track 1. Personality Crisis. David Johansen’s greatest moment on vinyl?
