The washing machine example doesn’t resonate with me. It doesn’t “talk”, so of course we don’t thank it. The only things it can do in response to input is wash laundry and beep. lol. LLMs “interact” with us.

I tend to think of Gemini as a better/more capable Google search. So I don’t really feel bad about just dumping a search term into a new chat. If I’m conversing with it, well, being polite is a habit anyway.
