I hit buttons and code comes out. Grizzled software engineer with background in edge compute, AI/ML, DLT. Board game and TTRPG geek. Metalhead. All around weird dad. CTO @ WishKnish.
I frequently advocate for self-hosted, user-owned-and-operated AI at the edge. It’s not the technology that’s the key problem - it’s the people and platforms handling your data. It’s never too early to educate people on breaking free from the platform paradigm.

The Greater Fool Theory suggests you don’t need to run faster than the bear to not get eaten. You just have to run faster than the other guy. Doesn’t this make our economy bear food eventually? Sure seems that way.

Almost all of the dev resources I manage are MacOS, but occasionally we get a Windows box. First thing I usually do is run O&O Shut Up 10++, which automatically applies all the best practice registry tweaks and makes the experience less miserable.

Snow Crash has been my first foray into Stephenson (and cyberpunk fiction in general) many, many years ago. No looking back. This was an inflection point, and had a lasting impact on me personally. Brilliant stuff.

It is surprisingly difficult to get a dumb tv these days. And even more difficult to get an affordable dumb tv. Outdoor monitors, business displays, and hotel entertainment equipment are a few promising directions to look, but there’s always a price.

I left months ago because it was frankly exhausting to be surrounded by so much hypermasculine snowflake angst. The fact that Elon’s in charge, amplifying his favorite type of angst didn’t help. I gained zero value from my experience there.
