That is a very fair point. On the other hand, I think it is also important to distinguish between "perceived" stability and "actual" stability. Perceived will allow you to take a step back and be strategic, whereas we all know there are inherent risks to organisations' stability, as you point to.

Very short answer to a complex question: what is your take on it? Agreed that NGOs will always pursue maximum funding, but - anecdotally - when funding and existence is jeopardised, they tend to search broader for funding, incl. in fringe areas of their mission.

❓What I am left wondering - and may be hard to answer: in a field of fierce competition and stretched budgets, does the improved financial sustainability also ensure more effective resource allocation by empowering NGOs to pursue funding strategically, rather than chasing everything?

All that to say: I am excited about the new job, education in emergencies will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am happy to answer questions about what is is like working in a large philanthropic foundation. Naturally, my Bsky feed will be different from my Twitter 😉

It has been a year of unlearning old work habits, personal growth, and the major privilege to have time for deep curiosity, but also a year of growing concern about how basic human decency and support for those left furthest behind is fading.
