So, I guess I’m here now
Surely the mobster of choice is Morris Levy. I feel like he’s going to be turning up a lot more.

It is terrible, yet still more watchable than some of the Star Wars stuff that Disney+ has done in the last few years.

Because rich people have too much money, and they have no idea what to do with it. That, or they are hoping the robot server won’t murder them in their bunker in New Zealand.

There have been so many versions of this story that there is a very long Wikipedia page listing them en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptat...

I have the same issue with the 4th volume of the Captain Easy Sundays that Fantagraphics put out. The title starts further down the spine. Drives me nuts

“Slightly smaller than an index card” - so if you realise you are being scammed, manage to cancel the subscription and decide to just buy normal cards they won’t fit in the pretty wooden box.

I’m assuming that this will be full contact - so you can take out anyone trying to make a catch that disadvantages your team, in any way you see fit? If so, I’m in.

And he’s been alive again for nearly as long as he was dead.

Kirby had peaked well before he left Marvel for DC, and his subsequent work is ugly and/or dull. Characters like the New Gods or the Eternals have failed multiple times because they are not very good.

Pretend to be nice from Josie and the Pussycats is an absolute banger, and also the work of the late great Adam Schlesinger

Indeed. Absolute no look headfirst dive into post Good Vibrations BB, resulting in joy for the better part of 40 years now.

Is that the sort of sandy coloured one with the bikini girl on the cover? Where Friends is the first album and Smiley Smile is the second? First BB album I ever bought. Will love side 1 of Friends until the day I die.

I love them as much as the next guy, but the Monkees need to be in contention here.

He’s the Deep State president. That’s why he was in office from 1967-1981. Even the machine can’t tell you who the deep state presidents were after that. It’s a secret.

How do you know Metropolis didn’t buy their subway cars from the London Underground?

It’s been a few years for me too and i can see that take, but for me the endless exposition felt like an endorsement or at the very least an indulgence. Probably won’t stop me from reading the Parker one. I’m not even a huge Elvis fan but that would be the 8th book I’ve read about him!

Read the Guardian review today and was worried that Guralnick might once again be captured by his subject. IIRC the last third of the Phillips bio is nearly unreadable espousing of Sam’s view of his own greatness. Which is a shame because the rest was very good.
