I’ve decided to create a (lazy) map of #Hamburg showing the vessels around the port and the Elbe river.

Hey there. I didn’t have time until today so I’m also a little late. Correct me if I’m wrong but you seem to have set up a bounding box (see attached image) where aisstream.io does not offer any data according to their website (took me a while to get that though haha).

So if we add shipwrecks (red) to the lighthouses (yellow), we see incomplete shipwreck data and lots of WWII wrecks. Filtering by date a next step could be investigating if lighthouses might‘ve been built as consequence of ship wreckage. Also what’s going on with the Solomon Islands and Barents Sea?

Boredom hit me so I used the overdrive api to get all lighthouses worldwide to map them (using matplotlib). When looking at the result, we can make out most of the structures of the global land mass. Also is there no lighthouse emoji!?
