Clean energy. grid modernization, regulatory reforms. State Representative. Personal account; all views mine.
We hear assessments of why electricity prices have surged, most claiming some single factor is the culprit - ownership, solar policy, regulation. The reality is far more complicated and underscores the pitfall of applying national averages to local situations. www.latitudemedia.com/news/why-are...
Why are electricity prices going up?
An analysis by Lawrence Berkeley National Labs turned conventional wisdom about load growth on its head.

Maine needs a better plan for its electrical grid | Opinion
Yes, we need stronger poles and more line workers. But we also need a new way of thinking about the grid itself.

Nuclear fusion is already beating nuclear fission, despite the closest plant being 93 million miles away.
A HISTORIC MILESTONE: For the first time, solar power generated more electricity globally than nuclear, making it the world’s 4th largest power source.

In just 5 years, solar output nearly tripled—from 79 TWh (Apr 2020) to 233 TWh (Apr 2025). The energy transition is speeding up.

My bill that should keep Maine on its path to develop TOU rates was signed today. During the debate a bizarre assertion was made - TOU rates are a Democrat scam to hide the 'failure' of our solar policy!

So we now celebrate an extortionist who first threatens the victim with a draconian threat, but then reduces the severity of the threat but does not remove it?

Trump claims gas prices low because of drilll baby drill. He didnt say its just not the US doing the drilling - the Saudis and Russians started increasing production in April, lowering oil prices, causing a decline in US production and rig count.

FLEXIBILITY FOR ALL: Since Apr 1 2025, all distribution network operators in Germany are required to offer variable grid fees for controllable consumers (think heat pumps, EVs, batteries).

Animation illustrates this for a typical day.
