Twin Snakes isn’t as good as the original, and the cutscenes, in the words of Peter Griffin, “insist upon themselves,” but hearing Mei Ling speak like a natural human without a forced accent was a relief.
Also, the way she asks Snake to catch her a Pikachu in Brawl is so, so adorable.

There are a lot of aspects that did not age well (Mei Ling’s dodgy Chinese accent, I’m looking at you), but the rest of it is great. Truly the first game I ever played that tried to be something deeper.
