Today I just happened to be at this park in the North End of Winnipeg that has a plaque that honours former Winnipegger Louis Slotin, the man who assembled the core for Trinity

Major Fulton landed with the rest of the Canadians at Juno as part of the first wave on June 6, 1944, leading D Company to take control of the town of Graye-sur-mer. Major Fulton was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his actions in June 1944. Plus he had an all time great mustache!

Just finished reading “When the Sea Came Alive” by @vermontgmg.bsky.social such an important and meaningful book. It was really great to see some references to the Winnipeg Rifles in there. He’s not in the book but a friend of my family was Major Lockhart “Lockie” Fulton, D Company, 1st Battalion

Who knew this book was almost 100 years old? So many great old timey gangster names but my favourite is Boiled Oysters Malloy

TJ English’s the Last Kilo was an absolute page turner. Top 3 book of the year so far

In anticipation of the new @vermontgmg.bsky.social book coming out this summer I went and picked up “When the Sea Came Alive” from my local library, excited to dive in. Last year three Graff books, Watergate, Raven Rock, UFO, and thoroughly enjoyed them all

Been busy running around so I forgot to share but I finished this book yesterday, fittingly while staying about 5 mins from Roger’s Centre. Well done @keeganmatheson.bsky.social you really captured the spirit of the franchise through all the various eras. Must have for any Jays fan!

Couldn’t wait, had to have it today - going to read it on my trip to Toronto in a couple weeks! I’ll be there for the A’s series

Recent reads 4: currently reading this one so no full judgement yet but so far it’s fascinating. Set in the late 14th century, it’s just so far before most of the history I’m familiar w/. Amazing research to be able to tell a story so vividly from so long ago

Recent reads 3: Jesus.. this one is not for the faint of heart. Really important to read and learn about this piece of history as I didn’t know anything about it previous, but still a lot of very brutal descriptions of violence. Not long but hard to read. Also tragic learning the author’s history

Recent reads 2: another book with distinctive parts to it. I really enjoyed the history parts about Dilla’s life; I had less connection to the musicology aspects as I’m not a musician at all. I appreciate that someone’s thought about his music that much but yeah it’s all Greek to me
