I can often be heard grumbling about cycling infrastructure, but I throughly enjoyed a commute into Manchester today, taking in (parts of) several national cycle network routes – big shout out to organisations such as @sustrans.bsky.social and @cyclinguk.bsky.social that build and promote this

Ardotalia, in #gamesley, near #Manchester in UK, in Celtic/Latin “the place of the high dark hill”, where beneath the grassy bank lie the remains of a Roman fort whose first iteration dates from around 70AD. No doubt those around at the time appreciated the surroundings #highpeak #peakdistrict

It’s very freeing to not have to worry about reserving a space for a #brompton bike, with four changes and the ever present risk of delays it becomes difficult with a full size monster, but dreaming about travelling freely on euro rails with that one day!

The snake pass road that lies between Sheffield and Manchester in the UK is closed until 25 October.... but not to cyclists! – the only time I would ever feel safe to go on it, made for a bracing lunchtime ride! #snakepass #snakepasstrespass
