It is time for new leadership—leadership that does not support oligarchs, colonizers, or genocide. Leadership that builds a system meant to serve the people, protect their safety, and support their prosperity. Not just some communities, but all. The federal government has lacked legitimacy for years. Current politicians have jeopardized the sovereignty of the American people, selling it out for greed and power while pretending to care. The world is a stage, and the actors are performing their last act as the patriarchal system collapses under the weight of its own corruption and end-stage capitalism. The American people have awakened enough to grasp this truth: Israel has more power than the American people’s vote. The United States government has been co-opted. This is treason. No political official will save us—we must save ourselves. It is time to starve the machine. Unity is the way.

ICE, whose tactics resemble those of neo-Nazis lacking pride in what they claim to stand for, will continue to invade Illinois and cause harm, while euphemistic actions and sentimental semantics remain as this governor’s administration’s primary strategy. The people of Illinois have been reporting and screaming about these issues day in and day out. It is not that they are voiceless or failing to document events on their phones—they are being ignored. We need leadership willing to stand ten toes down for the people, not someone performing concern through gentle gestures and just enough words to convince the public that something is being done. The governor may have many convinced by this performance, while scapegoating the Trump administration for chaos that has been under construction for years with bipartisan support at both federal and state levels. If all you tell Illinoisans is to “take out your phones and record,” then you should reconsider running for office. That response is weak and complicit in crimes that allow families to be torn apart and lives to be lost. It demonstrates a lack of genuine care for the people of Illinois. The governor’s actions fall short of what this moment requires. The governor should also reconsider running for president if this is how they claim to “show up.”
