Current game of the year contenders for me:
-Expedition 33
-Ghost of Yotei
-Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
-Suikoden I & II Remastered
-Powerwash Simulator 2

Expedition 33 is very much my frontrunner, but the others are all so very good.

Ghost of Yotei was fantastic. I really enjoyed the story, the acting, and the combat. I also enjoy that it felt similar in ways to Tsushima, but it definitely had a lot of its own identity. My hope is that each Ghost game is unique like this and that we get many more.

To get in the holiday spirit for October I just read Buffalo Hunter Hunter by @sgj.bsky.social and Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab. Both fantastic, and very different, takes on vampires. Also read How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix.

All three were fantastic, read them!

Finished the Arjac Rockfist model. Still need to do the basing, but it came out better than I was expecting. 😀

House achieved. We get keys on Monday and drop our stuff there the same day. This week will be a lot of sorting boxes and getting things arranged. Then the waiting game while my refund from a PERS I can't use processes. Then pay bills, get a new couch, a new desk, and a (much needed) new car.

Love starting a new job and asking where all of my standard resources are, only to be answered with a series of shrugs and blank stares.

Book tape and spine labels are sort of core to library work...and yet...they're nowhere to be found.

3.5 working days left, and I'm spending the whole day almost in a management training seminar on Zoom. Then, my last half day, I'll be training someone new for a different branch. So im only actually doing my job for 2 of my last days here.

This training is also mindnumbingly boring.
August 14, 2025 at 10:48 PM
After today, only 4.5 more days in the branch before I leave for good. It's weird making schedules for everyone through October and seeing my name not on the list.

Anyways, I've still got packing to do and one last model to finish painting before I'm all good to go at home.

If you're in or around the North Bay Area, I have a friend selling their 2018 Honda Rebel 500 ABS. It only has 8200 miles on it. If you're interested, send me a message.

Job has been acquired.

Move update: 2 interviews so far, but too soon to know how those will pan out. Gov jobs always take forever to resolve hiring, though, so this is unfortunately normal. The likely case is that I'll be up there in September.

Really enjoying this war between WotC and Critical Role. All the articles are like "There was a FIREFIGHT!!!"

Meanwhile us Pathfinder players are sipping tea, wearing a comfy robe, and chuckling about the whole thing while we watch the mudslinging. I admit it would be nice to see WotC burn, though.

The move is now in holding pattern for me while I get a job up in the Portland area. But, the rest of the family is up there and unpacking. I've had 1 interview so far and one more next week, so hopefully, this will continue to get traction, and maybe I'll even be up there before the end of August.

I made a fundraiser to help us pay for some of the moving costs. Anything you can contribute or promote to get us more help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

It's been quite a bit since I posted last. The move up north is going really well so far as we succeed in phases. Money is incredibly tight, though, and I'm debating a gofundme to help us get things sorted over the next few weeks. Anyone have a spare couple grand laying around?

First part of the Portland move is done. All the stuff for one house has been moved up, and one of that house's peeps has moved up. The next phase happens in just under 2 months. The final phase is after that, putting me in Portland in the fall sometime. Big feels about leaving CA. Will mourn later.

Well, "I think I'll get into Warhammer again" went from nothing owned to 2 Kill Teams with a 3rd in painting and a 4th planned, one full 2000 point 40k army, 3 more 40k full armies planned, 3 AoS Spearheads on the way with one full army nearly purchased and 2 more full armies planned.

Good times.

Gonna put a hold on building Space Wolves until all the new stuff comes out. For now, though, very into building Daemons and then likely Custodes. Also, my white whale army is Chaos Cult because I wanna make a whole gang of shirtless weirdos with nailbats for opponents to deal with.

Progress has been made and dates have been figured out. Moving to the Portland area (likely Beaverton, specifically) has begun. My family will be moving up in stages with me being the last one sometime in the August-October range, depending on getting a job and stuff. My packing begins in July.

All these new books to read. A big tbr pile that I'm excited about. Seems like an excellent time to reread the Broken Earth trilogy.

To be fair, I did get through 2 tbr books right before this. "Horror Movie" by Paul Tremblay was excellent, and "Cunning Folk" by Tabitha Stanmore was a great read.

If you live in the US, you live in a country where a guy who did the Nazi salute is being absolutely cheered on as he usurps power from Congress.

You don't live in a country with "a few dark chapters." This is us. We're racist. It's time to own it and start the work of dismantling it.

Saros looks like an awesome game. Also I'm 90% certain it is about the King in Yellow. The planet is named Carcosa, it heavily features sun imagery, that might be the King in the trailer, the spiraling yellow symbol at the end could be the Yellow Sign...just saying I won't be surprised if it is.
