Sorry autocorrect is bad - many camera team people I know were baristas and working film in ny - a great gaffer i know worked ikea warehouse as a forklift operator. Another key grip i know works as a pharmacist part time. Get forklift and and mewp and osha 10 hour certs if possible.

Working in any role in film these days is only achievable if you have another source of income - at least until you get after a few years. Find work using your hands and in a team outside an office. Save up move to a film hib - find cheap rent and a non film job. Use that free time then to work film

The film industry is in decline in the US for many reasons. The best thing to do is establish yourself in an unrelated / semi-related job then use your free time and weekends to reach out to local colleges that have film programs and offer yourself to work as a PA.
