I pondered the relevance of a face like this in a kids playground today, as my daughter gave attention to every element bar this Gollum-esque statue.

Redrafted my distance spanning poem while considering what the journey looks like via my photos of Scotland.

Oddly excited to have had Ingstadt pen a poem that forms a montage between the two halves of The Unspeakable Awaits.

The end of this story is dark and a left-field ditty didn’t really fit. So “The Tale Retold” is a halfway summary!

Burns Night.

Not in Campbeltown as planned, but at home with an excellent bottle, veggie haggis, and IT Chapter 2 🤣💀

Today was to be the rescheduled Springbank distillery visit, which was previously cancelled because of Storm Bert. Storms are at it again, Éowyn has put paid to the journey.

The visit was a November post hospital trauma treat 😭

A home-grown Purple Hairstreak. Rescued as an egg from a fallen oak in February last year, and nurtured (along with five others) to adulthood. Ended up with three male and three female.

This is one of the females. A stunning insect!

Family are out, I’m home. Time to get some writing done. Marigold and his group are on the road to Norfingerton!

It’s not the most pleasant of roads.

It’s -6°c, it’s crisp, it’s white and blue out there, and a pale red is creeping over the horizon.

I’m stuck waiting on a car service.

Here’s one I took earlier.

I have suggested to a few I'm on v0.98! It's all kindled up, has the contents that work etc. Just need one more step before it's out. I cannot control the speed of that though...

Hardest part of writing a book is done:

The table of contents.

The fourth book in my fantasy series is The Dead and the Rotten, and it takes place directly after The Vile Realm though is more or less standalone. It has the undead in it, which I know are no longer cool anymore.

It should hopefully be out this year! I've been saying that since 2021.

The third book takes place after the first, because that's obviously a trend I've set now. It is also a direct sequel to Grim Work, and is a much more epic tale, spanning snow and sand, forests and broken dimensions. The antagonist is based on the internet!

The second book takes place before the first, which isn't the first tale at all. Am I trying to put off my readers? Not quite! They are both standalone stories.

Ice, worms, and cults. More reasonable chapter titles, such as "Summit's Up."

Book one of my dark fantasy series isn't actually book one at all, but placed somewhere around the middle of Marigold's career as a miserable barbarian.

A grim and violent tale with very reasonable chapter titles, such as "An Arm and a Leg".
