Klahowya from BC, Canada. A #GPlusRefugee who has finally checking out Bluesky. Enjoy #TTRPG, use #Linux as my primary OS, and am learning (sporadically) #ChinookWawa. #Jewish and #Metis, because my ancestors were pretty friendly, I guess.
@centristhumanist.bsky.social I've been having the same point. Tough to have an independent domestic arms industry without selling those arms.

That SmartVoting.ca is a good idea! Not great, electoral reform to eliminate the spoiler effect would be great, but until then, I will shamelessly post this link.
Ending The Vote Split. One Riding At A Time
SmartVoting.ca is a one stop tool voters in Canada can use to see who is the best party to vote for in their riding to prevent a Conservative win.

Written by Mark Carney? The former Bank of Canada governor and Bank of England governor? Seems like an intelligent and calm person, would make a good leader in these troubled times…

Watching Elon it looks kind of awkwardly enthusiastically emotional? I'd buy that it was supposed to be "throwing his heart" more than Sig Heil. Thing is, you know that lots of people watching saw a Nazi salute. How he responds will be telling. Will he apologize sincerely or wink at the supporters?

When does Hanukkah start this year? The same as every year, the 25th of Kislev!

Thank you, thank you, I'll see myself out.

Never had a CoCo, and they were not anywhere as common as Commodores around where I was. Still, got to see a couple, and use one for a while. It was a fun and capable machine! I'd have been happy to have upgraded from my Vic-20 to one of these.

I like how the mom uses the recipe planner. I seriously recall the era when vendors were trying to justify buying a computer, and recipe planning was often touted.

Makes sense, a recipe database is a good way to think of database structure. Yet I don't recall ever using a recipe database.

I think I was still rocking my Tandy 1000TX (286) at that time. No CD-ROM, but I also didn't have $2,129.

Adjusting for inflation, that $4,800 now... I guess you could spend that on a high end gaming computer.

Still have my Vic-20, with cassette drive. Kind of afraid to turn it on. Missing a video adapter anyways.

I remember the Coco 3! Was pretty decent, and I don't think it gets enough love among retro enthusiasts.

Never had one myself though, and it didn't seem to get the same releases that many other computers got.

This looks like a good read to drop an obligatory Peter Pringle song, "Exultation of Innana".

Also, an aside for all you old Gen X geeks, Innana makes an appearance in Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash.
