Latest few Dungeon scribblings. Picked up a new Dungeon Journal (thanks to my lover 😘)! I think it is a dot journal, but the dotted grid is very faint. So charging forward with more!
I only "set static" what were the inspiring ideas. I wanted to draw a keep, got this far and quit. I did not quit drawing, I just decided to come back to this one later. 😉 Practicing drawing pits and columns with no key to copy or draw from. Again, I like to leave the maps primarily blank for quick use at a later date. Yup that's cedar siding in the background. Dungeon scribbling on my lunch hour 👊

Man, my players (wife and closest friends/family) basically made me an RPG battle jacket for my birthday! Man does it go good with that Shadowdark RPG hoodie! More patches are enroute too!

Yeah I have three campaigns going. High fantasy 5e homebrew, dark horror Cursed of Strahd (about done), and cracking the books on Shadowdark homebrew. You can definitely tell what fuels my imagination😉

This is why I love TSR era D&D, as well as Shadowdark. The characters were adventurers, and gained "power" through skill, experience, and the loot they find along the way. Rather than the current super heroic take, where super hero style powers emerge as they level up.

Oh man, remember when PC games came in boxes with all the extra manuals, etc? Remember when we actually had the physical copies of our games? I was a die hard Diablo 1 fan. Although this one stepped away from the gothic dark fantasy from D1, it sure as hell was an awesome game.

As "The Wrecking Crüe" traverses the Feywild, the Saturday Six (six pan flute playing Satyrs that behave like umpa lumpas) seemed to have pushed the party's patience 😆

Here's a few pictures of my gaming table, and some (DIY) terrain. A constant evolving project 😉
It's amazing what you can do with scrap wood and some paint... Light: A big black flower pot upside down over a chicken light, with a smart light bulb. Table frame is 6' x 6' built with scrap 2x4s, old plywood, and underlayment (1/4" plywood). GM screen is scrap 3/4" cedar siding. Lazy susan (under circular xps tile) 1/4" underlayment, 42" circles x 2 glued together with carpenter's glue. Of course a lazy susan metal roller screwed to the bottom side. Audio: Two inherited blue tooth speakers (placed under the table) One for my cellphone for YouTube (ambiance music), the other for my old tablet with DMDJ for sound effects. PC: old PC, just new enough to have two monitor ports. I collect art and images, then throw them to the player side as needed. Same table as the cave tile scene in the other picture. Smart bulb was changed to "daylight" for the pic. Here is an Orc encampment, just before they assaulted it 🤘 Here is a gore token for when the Artificer's Steel Defender gets KO'd. 1- Gritty sand glued to a steel washer. 2- Wire snips to cut gear beads in half. 3- Glue beads, tack nails, & chain. We prefer to use these measuring sticks. 12" long, so that's a perfect 60' in game. Spray paint gloss white, use Sharpie every inch. Red for the middle (30'). Spray with clear coat, gloss. The short ones on the table were the first prototype. Used craft paint on them.

I finally had the opportunity to crack open all of my #ShadowdarkRPG stuff again. Man, this system truly brings me back to that beginner's mindset. Go play RPGs with your friends and family! Just remember to, "Keep it grim & keep it wholesome"! 😉
In the dining room with the homies helping my players roll up some characters! We are keeping them from the core book for their first characters. Got the extra book and player's guide from the starter set. A few years before the Kickstarter I bought the starter kit. It's unbelievable how much awesome you can pack into a smooth rules light system!
