Jack, i lived in NZ as a Scot for 12 years and the Haka is nothing more than a tiresome exercise in threatening behaviour.. it’s become an embarrassing load of nonsense.. throat slitting..really! It’s an invented tradition and i thought the Twickenham reaction was bang on and my Kiwi mates loved it

do you think their absence this Dev squad means Kemp, Gaur, Mcdonald-Gay are getting some form of contract? To me Kemp next batter, solves the left hand issue, sorry Syd,Perrin has a huge future but plenty of time yet, surprised no Villiers, Baker, Norgrove, Pavely but hard to argue with others.

both Hants and Surrey look short of seamers….
November 6, 2025 at 8:02 PM
Warwickshire making some really good signings, both Taylor and Stonehouse being two of the best young seamers out there..they are building a really exciting young squad that could be a real force in the future
November 6, 2025 at 8:02 PM
didn’t realise that, thanks
November 3, 2025 at 1:17 PM
my feeling precisely @womenscricketblog….do you think this is all building up to an announcement that Indian Women will be allowed into the auction?
November 3, 2025 at 11:17 AM
yup, then you have the likes of Winfield-Hill, opening the batting, Keeping and Skippering the OI…which was a major reason for their poor showing last year.. in the words of Top Guns Stinger “ her ego is writing cheques her body can’t cash”… time for her and her ilk to be moved on….
November 3, 2025 at 11:11 AM
bang on regarding top order 100 opportunities for under 25yrs English girls due to O’seas players, Capsey, Perrin, Kemp,Scrivens, Smale the only ones i can think of, no wonder talent pool so shallow, those plus Southby, Grewcock E Jones, Norgrove, Spence, Odgers, Surenkumar i think worth looking at.
November 3, 2025 at 10:24 AM
you were bang on with this excellent summary, Central Contracts and the Regional Structure created a situation where very few 25-30 year olds are pushing for selection (Southby/ ADR apart) so Lottie is going to have to either rely on the curent senior crop or pick some very callow youngsters.
November 1, 2025 at 6:36 AM
It’s interesting that the 100 becomes a discussion point for Eng selection, for example Tilly CC had an excellent 100 but was distinctly average in both County Comps as was Kira Chathli who on 100 form would be an England shoe in…Perrin was superb across all 3 formats and has to be next on the list
October 31, 2025 at 8:09 AM
I think the Eng bowling looks in decent shape add in Kemp/Stonehouse/Gaur for left arm option, i suspect batting wise Lottie will be keeping a close eye on Perrin, Ella Mac, Smale, Scrivens, Kemp, Grewcock, Bouchier, Norgrove…Southby surely primed as next keeper as long as batting keeps improving
October 31, 2025 at 7:57 AM
i’m amazed Villiers, Gibson.Schofield have contracts, don’t c any of them improving the side, Kemp could become world class, Capsey has terrible ODI record, averages 19 with 1 50 in 26 innings, ADR needs a ODI run, Perrin for me T20 only at this stage..we have to find a wrist spinner..Baker?
October 30, 2025 at 7:30 PM
maybe not, but i think we can agree that she does know the game?
October 19, 2025 at 3:29 PM
that’s Lottie told then!
October 19, 2025 at 3:17 PM
disagree about ADR Jack, let’s not forget her Test 100 v SA and in her 2 ODI innings v India this summer she scored 44 and 53 batting at 6, she was also the best middle order county batter this season, she’s v v unlucky to not be in squad, she’s also an excellent player of spin
October 19, 2025 at 2:23 PM
an excellent article, let’s hope it all comes together, but i fear it unlikely. Not picking ADR, who was excellent in the middle order last season for Eng/Surrey looks a mistake, she’s been so unlucky with regards England, as for Capsey i cannot think of someone less suited to batting with the tail.
October 18, 2025 at 9:39 AM
as does the total lack of any crowds/ atmosphere other than when India are playing…
October 16, 2025 at 2:35 PM
agree with @globalcricket in that Dunkley looks the most lost and i don’t think a positional change will make a difference… she might do better v India/Aus on decent wkts, Lamb to open,Jones/Wyatt-H/Capsey at 5/6/7,agree Wyatt H lucky to be there, but she’s the only batting alternative they’ve got!
October 15, 2025 at 12:18 PM
Surely Lamb opening and Wyatt in for Dunkley
October 15, 2025 at 10:50 AM
agreed, Stonehouse the best left arm all rounder out there now Kemp just batting, there has to be more to it, suspect a fed up young lady that will not be in a Surrey shirt again!Jones was one of the quickest around, hence the Eng bowling prog..if Blaze sort her radar out she’ll be some player!
October 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM
In Stonehouse/Jones that’s 2 outstanding Eng A all rounders leaving Surrey, both in the Eng pace bowling programme. Must be due to lack of game time, with a squad full of “senior” players it must be a very difficult place to establish yourself, especially as a batter, hope they flourish elsewhere.

oops!
September 27, 2025 at 2:20 PM
no shock, as proved in the last few games she’s far to good to be on the Surrey bench waiting for Eng call ups/injuries to get an opportunity, surprised it’s the Blaze though, one of the few counties she’ll not b an automatic starter..i think there will be lots of youngsters moves after next season
September 23, 2025 at 1:30 PM
hope u smash em!
