We also had this incredible leucistic Yellow-billed Kite at Kartong... Utterly mesmerizing as it circled with the other Yellow-billed and Black Kites. (Although it did get a fair bit of stick from the others!) @naturetrek.bsky.social #birds #gambiabirds

Saw in the New Year with a couple of days off in The Gambia between tours, so went upriver to look for a few sought after birds.... Ended up with 8 new, with superb views of Grey-headed Bushshrike, Temminck's Coursers, Dwarf Bittern and Chestnut-bellied Starling the stand outs performers

On the @naturetrek.bsky.social The Gambia trip we spent our last day around Marakissa and Kotu and we had incredible views of Shining-Blue Kingfisher! Not an easy one to catch up with in the Gambia. West African Crocodiles were their usual selves and we had a great White-faced Scops Owl too #birds

The last couple of days of the @naturetrek.bsky.social The Gambia tour were spent in the West of the country catching up with a few things. Farasutu Forest came up trumps with Guinea Turaco, Green Hylia, Greyish Eagle Owl and a very sneaky pair of White-backed Night Herons #birds
Day 10 on the @naturetrek.bsky.social Gambia trip saw us on a boat trip in the mangroves from Tendaba Camp before heading back towards the west. Great views of Woolly-necked and Yellow-billed Storks from the boat and Black Scimiterbill and Copper Sunbird on roadside stops were the highlights. #birds
