For the steamdeck / machine?
A few years ago, I tried to get most of my game on epic or itch.
But since I got a steamdeck, and although it is possible to install game from the other store on it, it's so much easier and convenient to get game on Steam.

The good news with id lookup is that, if it indeed affects performance down the line, it would be easier to change than the way around. It can be cached at first or changed completely if that's still not enough.
