Would be genuinely triggering. That triggering factor is like. I think where the bulk of the issue comes from. Being told either phrase about anything commonly has the reaction of me freezing up and having flashbacks.

I just... One of the reasons why it's such an issue for me is that "You're not trying hard enough!" and "You're just lazy!" were used as reasons to beat me as a kid, when it was my ADHD and shit acting up. So hearing that in relation to my art? Even vague relation?

I think the # is #alt4me, but I've also seen people raise *hell* that someone didn't just alt text it themselves, or be passive aggressive all "Nice pic! It'd be even nicer with alt text" because they never saw the alt4me tag, or just didn't care.

It's just really, really upsetting, because there's no winning. No matter what I do, I'm getting hurt in this equation.

And I just. I don't know what to do? I want to share my art, and I'll keep creating even if I don't, but if I DO share my art as my ability allows (without alt text), then I stand to be harassed, or to have people be passive aggressive, or insist I'm not REALLY disabled just lazy.

But I've seen people scream at others for using AI to make alt text saying "You're just being a lazy asshole. If you're not going to write the alt text yourself or have someone else do it, you shouldn't put alt text at all!" - Not even touching on ethical issues in training, just full on hate.

And I'm in a position where I do not think I can do both. And there's not really a consistent service that can help me with this.

This is one of the few things I think AI would be a genuine, useful tool for, if it didn't have the major ethical issues.

I'm not the only person I know who's fucking scared of being harassed off the site, and has simply just not posted their art in a long, LONG time. I'm actually one of the people I know who's posted *most recently*.

I just. I want so badly to do well by others. But I also want to do well by me?

I've seen "That's no excuse. Your disability doesn't justify you not doing something for someone else who is disabled", I've seen "That's not a real disability, you're just lazy", I've seen "well if you're too disabled to alt text, you just shouldn't post".

I've seen other people talk about how their disability makes it hard for them to alt text (including people with physical disabilities that make shit harder for them, who post pictures *because* engaging in text is hard) get fucking kicked around.

And like. I'm going to level with you. I also should not have to say "Sorry, my disability makes it hard for me to alt text my art". I should not have to justify why I do or do not do something due to my disability. Especially because people are eventually going to fight me.

3. One of the reasons I draw is so *I don't have to put the images into words*, so then having to go back and make words for them is *deeply overwhelming*.

Because:
1. ADHD is strong, if it's not in front of me, I forget about it
2. I only ever remember I need to alt text when I'm going to upload/schedule

And I need to be clear: This is a disability thing on my side. It's not just that my mind goes blank when I try to write alt text for my art, it's also that I have to have a certain mental energy to even schedule it. It's rare I can both schedule and write alt text.

Like, I'd have probably just given up 4 months ago, except that I'm kinda afraid people will harass me over it - and if you say "oh no one will do that" you are a sweet summer child, I've seen several people harassed off site for saying "I'm sorry, I can't".

I really, truly want to do my best by people with vision impairments, I do, but when, aside from one image I uploaded out of the blue so I could post it on another site and have a timestamp predating it, I've not uploaded in 8 months?

This is untenable.
