That being said, this is my understanding from when I used the site between 2005 to 2012. I am by no means a coder, nor have I used the site after that time period. So things might've changed? But I would sincerely doubt 4chan shifted to require email registration like typical social media.

These are admin emails. These are admins/mods/janitors. General 4chan users don't register their email, posting is anonymous other than posting with a username that you can change at any time and a set tripcode that is an obfuscated password. The site does log IP addresses though.
