One from earlier this year up on Blencathra on the way along Halls Fell - the finest route up to any summit without a rope? Perhaps! Always looks far better with its lakeland winter coat on.

Hiker stands on the upper crags of Halls Fell on the approach to Blencathra summit in January of this year. Looking forward to more of this weather pretty soon.

Last light of the day catching an outcrop of trees on Ennerdale Water with Pillar and Black Crag towering above. Shot back in spring on a shoot up to Steeple, Haycock, and Caw Fell.

Fine tree and old stone building on the approach to The Knott from Cowbridge in mid summer a couple of hours before dusk.

Certainly had worse views at dusk - Clough Head from Blencathra yesterday evening in the northern fells of the Lake District.

Rannderale Knotts reflecting onto Crummock Water back in February in the western fells of the Lake District (Nikon Z7).

Pretty much as nippy as the Lakes get - the summit of Helvellyn with winter doing its thing. About -20 as two hikers take a moment at the summit shelter before heading off into the thick clouds. Not a place to linger for too long but it was pretty hard to resist this shot.

The highest human in England for a wee while as a hiker enjoys a pretty quiet summit of Scafell Pike on a very chilly day in the Lake District.

Moody shot of Pen overlooking the Eskdale valley, catching just a sliver of light on a pretty grim afternoon. A day for picking out details on the telephoto lens rather than shooting more conventional landscape images. #lakedistrict #cumbria #nikon #hiking #mountains #eskdale

Moody view of Scafell and Broadstand taken in the last of the sun on Saturday evening in Wasdale. Sweeping up a few final shots needed for the new edition of Great Mountain Days - this is likely to feature in this major guidebook to the Lake District #lakedistrict #cumbria #landscape #nikon #wasdale

Shot today from a blast up to Lingmoor Fell to grab some shots I needed for the new edition of Cicerone's Great Mountain Days. I have plenty of snowy images of this modest fell in the Lake District, but it was nice to collect one with late summer heather #lakedistrict #hiking #landscape #omsystem

Shot from yesterday evening's shoot to Mellbreak in the Western Fells of the Lake District yesterday. Mellbreak is always tough to shoot late in the day, at least for me, but certainly felt that this perspective with St. Bartholomew's Church in Loweswater worked well. #lakedistrict #cumbria #hiking

A rather moody looking set of fells from a shoot in Eskdale back in June of this year. Here we are on Scar Lathing, looking towards Scafell Pike (left), Pen (centre), and Ill Crag (right).

No posts for a wee while with work being the annoying thing that it is. But thought I'd post this shot this morning from a wonderfully blissful dawn up on Low Pike looking south towards Ambleside and Windermere beyond as a hiker makes his way down #lakedistrict #cumbria #hiking #dawn #landscape

Moody morning light over Buttermere, High Crag, and Haystacks earlier in the week meant the world looked better in monochrome. Not the weather that was promised (when is it ever?), but nice to be there for first light

Few more images today from the Slovenia Alps back in August. Such a fantastic week in the mountains from our little base in Mojstrana. Given that I had been on crutches 20 days before heading out due to a fell running injury, I was utterly stoked to enjoy this setting - albeit it pretty slowly!

Morning light catching Catbells yesterday around 8:30am up on Castle Head. Was trying to decide on a summit shot yesterday morning or the portrait of the fell - being a little late out of the house the portrait shot won and came out quite well.

A view that is so familiar to me that I often take it for granted - the higher peaks that form part of the Fairfield Horseshoe (Great Rigg, Fairfield, and Hart Crag). I often use this route as my fell running round each week but had to grab a shot of this back in the summer given how moody it looked

Moody view of Cofa Pike that connects Fairfield and St. Sunday Crag in the eastern fells of the Lake District. One of my favourite spots in this wonderful little national park that I get to call home! 🎉

Moody morning at Goat Water on Saturday morning shooting Dow Crag for the upcoming book. As always, doesn't matter what time you leave, you're always 10 mins too late to catch the good light. But the murky nature of the fell kinda came through here...sort of.

Not quite the sign you expect to see in the fells of the Lake District - wandered past this with some sense of confusion back in the summer on a shoot around the fells of Mardale Head. This shot is looking down from the path up to High Raise from Wether Hill in the far eastern fells.
