This has been my winter of woodpeckers. Just this morning I’ve seen a Pileated, Red-Bellied, Downy, Hairy, Northern Flicker, and a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker. I wish the Red-Headed Woodpeckers were around too.

I spent a lot of my doctorate studying the music of Francisco Guerrero Marín. His music is difficult to analyze but his orchestral works are really stunning examples of the power of mass textures. I hope more work is done on this composer in the future. youtu.be/xqrnuGysMu0?...
