Thank you for your kindness. We still miss him but my son had a broody hen and since there was no rooster I found a local lady with a backyard flock and a roo. I got some eggs from her and on Friday night we had three babies hatch! You forget how much fun chick-tv is to watch! 💕

I’m sad to report abt 10 nites ago our coop was raided by at least 2 raccoons who killed Ned & his 3 ladies. Ned fought valiantly for his flock, somehow avoiding having his head ripped off (racc’s fave mode of chook murder), surviving til we found them in the AM. Despite efforts, he soon succumbed.😢

I believe that idea was punted nationally sometime during the Carter or Reagan era and it was deemed too risky. I don’t remember why cuz I was only about 10 years old but I do recall thinking it was a good idea. 🤷🏼♀️

Don’t worry. Despite being in the arid western part of the state it’ll eventually leach out, entering our water table and aquifers. We’ll have hot water, only not the “hot” water used in tea and such. It’ll be fun to see if it glowing the dark. 😕
