I remember when Roger Ebert made his obnoxious "games are not art" statement, and his arrogant assumption that games cannot evoke real emotion or have a message.

Valkyria Chronicles was my immediate counterexample.

I liked TORG. Having a logarithmically-scaled attribute system was hard to wrap your head around but actually made some amount of sense. And the d20 was really pretty.
