Indeed, and it’s a reasonable assumption given the current legality of the vehicle, but also indicative of ingrained car culture. If we send signals (price, accessibility etc) that make other options more convenient, it can change.

Many things sold in Australia as e-bikes are actually e-motor bikes & illegal to ride on public roads & paths. And they are killing children and scaring people off using shared paths.

Things marketed as individual pleasures without any recognition of their negative externalities (aka impacts on other people) are not new: tobacco, guns, alcohol etc. Huge SUVs etc are the same. When these negative impacts are brought to account, governments intervene.

I hope this happens soon.

Just to clarify, none of them are from staring at people in real life. Mostly I just take a photo from somewhere on tv shows or ads, and draw them from the photo…

And as Brisbane’s jacarandas hit peak purple, this rare white one around the corner from my house is in full bloom too. My late wife Jan Smith loved this tree, so it’s a lovely reminder of her. ❤️
