It is not a "Unitary Executive Theory." It is a "Unitary Republican President Theory."

Our president is literally channeling Otto from “A Fish Called Wanda.”

Particularly in the world the president wants to create, where proving that I was born in the U.S. is no proof that I am a citizen.

What an effing clown show this government is. It’d be funny if it wasn’t causing so much harm and destroying 250 years of work that built this country.

Pretty sure we've heard from Bill Clinton re: the Epstein Files. And while I have no interest in protecting Clinton from scrutiny (if he's broken the law, he should pay the price), he certainly doesn't need to go to the Hill for a circus / hearing.

No. They’re setting you up for an epic rejoinder.

*Gag*

“Most” Americans may be sorry, but apparently not enough to do anything about it. Americans have been asking “where are the Russian people” with regard to Putin’s rule, now the world is asking the same question of the American people.

I’m still refusing to call National Airport the “Reagan National Airport.”

Why this guy won’t let the Dems bail him out is beyond me. Instead, he’s going to let Americans feel the pain of crazy ACA price hikes and then still be embarrassed when the Dems and GOP defectors pass the bill anyway.

Was just scanning responses to make sure someone had posted this.

Haven't you recently argued that U.S. voters aren't going to elect a woman? That would suggest the seeds of 2016 were sown in 1947, the year Hillary's dad delivered an X chromosome to her mom.

Only we few, we happy few, will get it.
December 8, 2025 at 9:37 PM
Of course they will. The more interesting question: how will they do it in a way that limits that power under a Democratic president?

“ENJOY!!!” ????

This guy cares not a jot about soccer. He cares that his Saudi masters care about soccer.

Tom, as I wrote elsewhere, I appreciate your defense of federalism. That said, I do not see the threat that you do that moving to a popular vote for president will erode all the other features of federalism that you rightfully point out are serving well to curtail this administration.
November 22, 2025 at 2:01 AM
“Chosen by the states”? Tom, I appreciate your curmudgeonly brain and your defense of federalism, but feel I need to refer you to Trump v. Anderson. States don’t even have the power to decide who appears on their own ballots.

I do think it’s worth noting that NO state uses anything like the electoral college to run its gubernatorial election. (Your point, I presume.) Maybe the reason is that it’s a ridiculous system to use, for any election.

This policy, like the admin that pursues it, is reprehensible. That said, the quote cited is nothing more than a restatement of the Declaration of Independence. Further, the quote does not necessarily cite a Christian god, just a creator god, of which there are many.

Importantly, the way the court has done this in most cases (without writing an opinion) provides no precedent for a future Dem president to take advantage of.
November 19, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Pretty?
November 12, 2025 at 3:01 AM
Given that the 2025 federal budget deficit is projected to be $1.8T, I assume that $3T in tariffs puts us well into the black? That's how it works, right?
November 11, 2025 at 7:45 PM
Looking forward to reading your paper. Hard to escape the conclusion that the court is using the emergency docket to let Trump do what he wants without establishing precedent that a Dem president can rely on.
