I’m in prospect park post-synagogue on a beautiful day reading @gregrucka.com and @mikeperkinsart.bsky.social’s excellent Lois Lane, but I can’t stop thinking about lox

I’m guilty of some of the crowd noise, I couldn’t help but sing along lol. He really is one of the greats though. And he actually used a different guitar for every song in his set—here’s some of his acoustic rendition of “please please let me get what I want” with a much quieter crowd

I didn’t expect to be so star struck by Johnny Marr at CBGB Fest yesterday.

I shit on Morrisey for good reason, but hearing Marr play The Smiths reminded me how much those songs mean to me. He’s a one-of-a-kind guitarist, and people sleep on him as a singer too

1. “The lady in the tub had been dead for a long time.”

You have to read The Shining to appreciate it in context. I did a whole presentation in AP Lang & Comp when I was 18 about how its a brilliantly constructed sentence.

The Room 237 scene in the movie is terrifying, but the book is even scarier

I like the King of the Hill reboot but I don’t buy Hank’s obsession with the George W. Bush library.

Did the writers forget that Hank didn’t vote for him because W had a weak handshake?!

Wore my Black Sabbath Vol. 4 shirt today to honor the Prince of Darkness. Had a nice, silent moment with a passerby on the street wearing an Ozzy shirt. He nodded. I gave a thumbs up. Metal brings people together

Oh wait, it was actually probably “For the Man Who Has Everything” considering that came first in the DC UNIVERSE: THE STORIES OF ALAN MOORE anthology I bought used for a steal
July 13, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Idk which I *bought* first, but I’m pretty sure this was the first I *read*

In retrospect a weird story to read as your first Superman comic, but I already loved Alan Moore. I didn’t think I liked Superman’s until I read this, though

it doesn’t crack the gazillionth worst things about Reagan but he was so dumb he thought “Born in the USA” was pro-America

Soundtrack to my NJ Transit trip to south Jersey for a 4th of July party.

Upbeat but deeply critical of the U.S. Perfect because recent news hasn’t made me feel particularly patriotic, to say the least
