Yes! It is very similar to fine grit sand paper from the hardware store, but it’s made special for pastels so the pigments and dust stick to the paper. I also sometimes add rock tumbler grit to acrylic paint and paint over wood panels to achieve a similar surface.

I love your machines. Discovered them through the process of painting this piece. 🤓 my wife says there is one at the Boston MFA which we visit pretty regularly so I need to check it out next time I’m there.

I too loved a juke box. My high school cafeteria had one and “Burning Down the House” by the Talking Heads was often played on repeat.
