If you are looking for the Greg Pye who likes tinkering, tech. diving, travel, complex problems, interesting people, dislikes simplistic solutions posited by populists, and most fruit, and lives in Nottingham, UK, then it's me.
There seems lots on it being a 'war crime' and LOAC, but I would have expected that required a formal war was required for LOAC to apply. Is it not more simply extrajudicial killing / murder? In the same way as say ordering police to kill someone?

As for @jonsopel1.bsky.social in that same interview ... I've heard him be great. But the 'gotcha' style is just not helpful, especially when you have someone like @torstenbell.bsky.social who is just so much closer to the detail and so much better at the subject. It helps no-one. Lasy journalism

Tens of thousands. To see it in ink. Over 7 9/11s. All the unlawful deaths in the UK since the mid 80s. 125 fully loaded 737 planes crashing and killing everyone on board. From a 1 week delay and an criminal inability to understand that 'exponentially' has a real meaning. Criminal negligence?

Standing back as an outsider to the USA, it is extraordinary to me that it ever made economic sense for very high average income USA to be producing agricultural products for export half way round the world. And clearly far far above domestic demand, so it's not a security of supply issue

I think it's more circular. Everything is to keep everything else out of mind. Go fast enough and you get away with it, it appears.

Feels like the days of Corbin over again. Please, PLEASE can there be a credible grown-up opposition. It's a key part of how UK is supposed to work well, and the Conservative clown show isn't cutting it. It's not about ideology, it's about competence.

Whilst I like Farage boats at one level, I think I prefer Brexit Boats. It makes the link clearer and it aliterates better

And, most everyone is renting capacity anyway, so if the need is valuable enough, pay for the resource (hi t - everyone is losing money today, this is a long game). In short, AI insight, research etc., yes, big supporter. Dead weight and delivery delay of DCs ... Not if it can be avoided

My god. Even the parodies of how he writes aren't this bad. Gob smacked, despite what I had thought were 'as low as they go' expectations

He knows (or his advisors do at least) that quite enough people in his core voter base will interpret that to mean 'fall by roughly a factor of ten', and quite likely more than will know that a 90% reduction and a 900% rise are a mirror images

Less than decade after the Brexit shenanigans proved it isn't that safe? Sigh

If so, surely better to give people the pride of public service rather than low level shame and concern about gcvmt changes to UC. But, not informed about e.g. if targeting of UC is better than what I guess would be a change to minimum wage

I generally like the considered views you have. This was not that. It's a really poor take; Even if Kirk started out the way that is described, he fell of the path long ago with threats to others. About as far away from doing politics the right way as possible, unless you think Trump does?

Much faster anyway.

I think he does care about British people and their rights. Just like Farage, yaxly Lennon, Brexit supporters et al. It's just that they have a very very warped and simplistic view of how that works in practice, and so what the current status is.

His hands are already dirty, it's just that he can't be bothered to clean them, in favour of whatabouterism. Which, to be fair, seems to work well for him so far. Surely gravity can't be cheated forever?

Surely it's worse than that. They DID ballyhoo when they had zero evidence, just biases. Which means to me that they have evidence that leads to conclusion that that odds are good that he was closer to MAGA in some form ( albeit mixed up etc.)
