If only we could devise some system by which people who have extra money could help pay for public goods, like state parks for example. It could even say be tiered by your economic ability to contribute… 🤔

The Trevi has an Augustan link too! It was built to celebrate the restoration of the Aqua Virgo, originally built by Agrippa for Augustus. The upper right relief panel shows the Vestal pointing out the source, and the upper left has Agrippa approving the construction!

I’m friends with a woman who lives on the Via Appia and she has taken me down to the *private*!! underground tufa quarries on her property. This is the only photo I could quickly dig up (pun intended!)
