Headline in Cap Times about my column. If Ron Johnson or any other elected official feared entanglement in these investigations, the solution was simple: do not engage in actions that violate the laws of the land. Especially those governing the election of the President of the United States!

My column about the latest antics in Washington landed on WisOpinion this morning. “Republicans, however, are hardly in a position to gloat from the wimpy actions of some Senate Democrats. Election night was a gut-punch." caffeinatedpolitics.com/2025/11/11/f...

Over the coming decade if all the tariffs remain in place there will be an income generated of $2.4 trillion. Yesterday in the Oval Office, Donald Trump said there is already $18 trillion ready to be used in one fashion or another. Clearly somebody’s pulling numbers out of their cankles.

It is absolutely beautiful outside in Madison on Saturday night. Or is that Sunday morning? There is a soft, gentle frosting of snow on almost all of the surfaces, an absolutely artistic creation by Mother Nature. Welcome winter to our seasonal turn around.

The New Yorker said election results should serve as a "five-alarm fire" for GOP, urged them to come to negotiating table to end the record-long shutdown. "What are these election results? They're a bolt of lightning and a wakeup call to Donald Trump to start working with us to end this crisis.'

I can't believe he has a girlfriend. The FBI forced out a senior official overseeing aviation shortly after Director Kash Patel grew outraged about revelations of his publicly available jet logs indicating he’d flown to see his musician girlfriend perform.

“It’s one of the most thorough legal rebukes in recent memory,” Politico reports. “More than 100 federal judges have now ruled at least 200 times that the Trump administration’s effort to systematically detain immigrants facing possible deportation appeared to violate the Constitution."

A winner. A new Quinnipiac poll in New Jersey finds Mikie Sherrill (D) leading Jack Ciattarelli (R) in the governor’s race, 51% to 43%.

GOOD!! A new Marist Poll in New York City finds Zohran Mamdani leading the mayor’s race with 48%, followed by Andrew Cuomo at 32% and Curtis Sliwa at 16%. Even if Sliwa were to drop out of the contest, Mamdani would lead 51% to 44%.

Taxpayers will bail out farmers with initial payment of $12 billion for farmers hurt by Trump's tariffs. Anyone with a basic economics class knows tariffs are an economic nightmare. Voters need to be educated. Now the nation will pay for the actions of low-IQ voters in 2024, once again.

A candidate with a strong, consistent message and a spine for political courage will win the New York mayor's race. A new Fox News poll finds Zohran Mamdani with a 16-point lead over Andrew Cuomo for New York City mayor, 47% to 31%, with Curtis Sliwa trailing at 15%.

Beware the grand headlines before the hard work is done. Who will disarm Hamas? And who will persuade Israel to withdraw from the part of the Gaza Strip that it continues to hold?

I wore yellow for its symbolism of unity and democracy. I wore a keffiyeh to show my support of the Palestinian cause. The flag is the one what is placed on a flower bed at our home in memory of my Dad and his service in WWII. Flowers grow there from the Iwo Jima Memorial.

Family member came to our home with a bevy of glorious veggies and fruit. Grown in dirt and from back home in Hancock, Wisconsin. I arranged it on our kitchen table.

There is one politician in the nation who is standing up with convictions, energy, consistency, and who is determined not only to run an election and win, but then thinking about how to govern.

I recorded a brief historical slice of political trivia, which I think you’ll find interesting as it has a bit of a comical ending. As we fight for democracy and feel the stress of headlines every day, this is my way of reaching out with a story from the past with a smile at the end.
