Twin Cedars™ update...
It's been a year since we moved in (our first night in the house was Halloween last year) and the upper floor renovation is complete. The last big hurdle was rebuilding the stairs.

I finally started decorating for Halloween, one of my favorite holidays. I've been overwhelmed with Twin Cedars™ and Adventures in Elder Care™. Still have 4 tombstones to finish, and some scary shadows to add to the basement garage door windows.

Ah the joys of a faulting SD/CO detector. Lasted 11 months. QC fail. I blame Felon47.

Stair opening railing done. Trex aluminum railing in bronze. On top, I installed a 1x5 hemlock top "drink rail" with 3 coats of water-based polyurethane. The old one, not original to the 1934 house, but from the '80s upper floor addition, was a colonial style monstrosity.

Stair opening railing done. Trex aluminum railing in bronze. On top, I installed a 1x5 hemlock top "drink rail" with 3 coats of water-based polyurethane. The old one, not original to the 1934 house, but from the '80s upper floor addition, was a colonial style monstrosity.

It's Sunday so... Zucchini, jalapeno pepper, cherry tomatoes, thai basil. Cooked on a stone on the grill because honestly, it's a better crust than in our oven.

Goodbye, old upstairs vinyl flooring. I had to wait a few weeks to have enough room in the trash bin, but my patience finally paid off. Now that the plaster skim coating is done, and after primer and paint, new pre-finished hardwood flooring can go in. So close I can taste it!
