Why did the United States lose the war in Vietnam? Apparently because GEN Westmoreland couldn't "keep an eye on things" while Spider-Man's friend Flash Thompson was home on R&R.

Next 5 on the pro reading list. Benton is super on how we talk about war. Check out @jamesgrahamwilson.bsky.social. A terrific Cold War read! As is Linn's social history of the 1950s army. Some great essays in Isaac & Bell on the "idea of the Cold War." Review forthcoming on the 'Nam.
