Donald Trump's Alaska summit w Putin could be a replay of Munich 1938, where Czechoslovakia was given away without the Czechs being consulted. It was appeasement, and only made Hitler hungry for more.
Zelensky will now be forced to accept concessions he hasn't negotiated. It won't end well

Kemi Badenoch attacks over sex + gender, a weak spot for Keir Starmer: Will he apologise for being wrong, + for forcing Rosie Duffield out of Labour?
KS: KB was Minister for Women for 2y and did nothing.
He also reminds her of Robert Jenrick's off-stage plotting w Farage.
A testy score draw.

John Sweeney:
"Donald Trump is a great showman, but he's a fool. Putin is a murderer, but a clever one. I've no doubt P is the master and T is the slave... P has has sexual kompromat on T."
Nothing we've seen on Russia/Ukraine contradicts any of this, and JS knows what he's talking about.

Is Donald Trump a total idiot? Vainglorious boast: "I have the power to end the war, it's going v well".
He criticises Ukraine for not making a deal with Putin "You shd never've started it." He just doesn't get the most basic point, or just ignores it: *It was Russia who attacked them* #BBCNews

Trump has been played like a fiddle, or possibly just knows Putin owns him. Now Russia will get everything it wants. It can re-arm and think which part of Europe it wants to invade next, incl attacking Ukraine again. Agent Orange has shafted the West.
Appeasement, like 30s Germany? #C4News

Kemi Badenoch still can't get the hang of #PMQs
The point is to construct a series of qns which trap Keir Starmer into an awkward admission, or catch him in a lie.
Instead she just makes a long list of dubious partisan assertions with a half-hearted qn tacked on the end. Useless

Environment Secretary Steve Reed: "Palestinians must be able to return home and rebuild their lives ..it'd be inappropriate to share a running commentary on Donald Trump's ideas for Gaza"
Translation: His idea is utter nonsense, but we don't want to upset his fragile ego by saying so

Trump's idea for permanent resettlement of Gazans and a "Riviera of the Middle East" is risible.
He sees Gaza as a real estate opportunity for him and his cronies, whilst Israelis see it as more territory for them to colonise.
Know-nothing Trump has been conned by Netanyahu

Donald Trump imposes tariffs. European and Far Eastern stock markets tumble, no doubt to be followed downwards by Wall St.
Meanwhile in Moscow, Vladimir Putin smiles to himself as he strokes the cat on his lap . The 2016 investments he made in Brexit and Trump are paying handsome dividends #r4today

Huddersfield 0 Bolton 1! Anyone see that coming?
(sings) "Julian Darby's super white army!" Almost rhymes.
Ian Evatt did a great job for us, but he'd run out of ideas. Should gone after losing to Oxford at Wembley. He deserves our thanks. Now time to move on. #bwfc #htfc #oufc

Bolton Wanderers have sacked manager Ian Evatt. It's the right move, but it's too late to save this season.
I was mostly a fan, but he'd run out of ideas and run out of road. That was obvious after the 2-0 defeat to Oxford at Wembley last May.

Better from Kemi Badenoch, as she seems to be learning how to frame a qn. But a killer line from Keir Starmer about getting a letter from a Tory voter "it wasn't written in green ink, but it could have been - it was from Liz Truss, denying she crashed the economy" Ouch!

Keir Starmer says Kemi Badenoch never mentioned rape gangs in the House in her 7+ years as an MP, including as Women's and Equalities Minister.
He invites her to correct him if he's wrong. She signally fails to do so amidst jeers in the HoC, presumably bcz KS is correct.

1/2 Robert Jenrick tries to weasel his way out of the Tories' refusal to hold a national inquiry into rape gangs "The previous request was from.. councillors, this one was from the council itself." As if that makes any difference at all!

V unhappy at Ian Evatt's remarks on Bolton's home defeat to #BFC
"We need change, we need to be better, and that needs to happen quickly".
It's as though he's got no agency, when in fact he's the person best-placed to effect that change. Has he run out of time and ideas?

Really poor result for Bolton Wanderers. Losing 2-1 to long-time rivals #BFC (both teams think they're much bigger than the other) simply isn't good enough.
After 5-0 loss to #SCFC, 2-0 to #WAFC and 4-0 to #HTFC, could be curtains for Ian Evatt. Actually, I mean *should* I've lost patience. #BWFC

When pressed on any policy issue on, say, water or steel, Kemi Badenoch has no ideas. "The answer is always, and should always be 'it depends' "(!!)
She pretends she's still thinking things through, but in reality she simply wants to carp from the sidleines.
She's hopeless and a bullshitter

Kemi Badenoch shows she has little grip on policy and few concrete ideas. Whenever she's asked for detail she responds "Watch this space" Hm, v inspiring!
Reform is currently stepping into the vacuum with its dangerous narrative of division + victimhood. She appears to have nothing to offer

Kemi Badenoch insists she'll take time to analyse what the Tories did wrong. Yet within weeks of defeat she offered her (ludicrous) verdict that the Tories "talked right but governed left"
Two of her biggest problems: She's a bullshitter who backed Brexit

Gareth Southgate sounds like a total top man: Likeable, modest, intelligent, insightful, honest. He's been a credit to the England team, to our country, and to all the teams he's represented. He's the kind of role model we need for our young men today

Chris Mason: Nigel Farage's key skill has been "his ability to dominate the air wars". True, but that's bcz the BBC constantly invites him and his acolytes on their political progs. #PoliticsLive or #BBCQT always feature a right-wing #Brexit loon, usually at the expense of the LibDems. #r4today

That's a shocking result for #BWFC - losing 2-0 at home to #WAFC
Local derbies really matter, and it looks like Ian Evatt doesn't know how to motivate this Bolton squad. I've been a fan of his, but I now fear for his future - even with forgiving Auntie Sharon Brittan in the chair

Oh for goodness' sake ! Bolton already 1-0 down at home against Wigan

' live blog it sounds like we're lacklustre and lethargic. Two defenders booked already in the first 15 mins.
If this game doesn't go well, Ian Evatt could be in serious trouble.

Richard Tice is doing his usual boorish pub bore act on #PoliticsLive, interrupting everyone at every turn, but is totally unable to support any of his arrogant assertions with evidence. Jo Coburn is challenging him much more robustly. About time too - a welcome shift in tone.
