Heading home I passed by tens of thousands of concertgoers parading out of MSG in Manhattan. What does the world's richest tech company, its fortune built on search, have to say about that? Absolutely nothing correct. AI worshippers: your God is fucking pathetic. (Tate McRae=the correct answer fwiw)

Did I travel to NYC for 15 hours to see a debate between @glenweyl.bsky.social and Curtis Yarvin, a man known as "Mencius Moldbug" for his influence on people like Thiel, Vance, and Musk,
on whether the U.S. should be ruled by a CEO dictator? Why yes, it appears that I did. #OpenToDebate #Scared

I love sports, but this country's collective addiction to gambling is increasingly hard to watch these days

I have a lot of life updates that I'm overdue to post here but none has produced a more, well, divine image than my episode of #SuperDataScience with Jon Krohn, which immediately brought 3 words to mind for me: "Oh. My. Gods."

Absolutely do read @jasonkoebler.bsky.social @404media.co on the pathetic saga of DeepSeek & Open AI, in which Koebler has to literally stop to lol for a few lines mid-piece. But if not, one meme will suffice: "You're trying to kidnap what I've rightfully stolen!"

Some "doomers" worry that AI will get to the point where it sees humans as disposable and wants to use our bodies as resources, but how are the actual people who wrote this any different? I mean, assuming AI *didn't* create this Economist headline

Talking today with my friend who lost his house and everything else in the Altadena fires (he's very much still accepting @gofundme.com support! gofund.me/4ff033bc) while he was driving. At one point he interrupted and said, "WTF??" He was driving right by THIS. It's very much not over, folks.

MLK Day: usually a major holiday for my family, but the cognitive dissonance is too strong this year. Taking a rest day instead, much rest will be needed ahead. Those of us fighting for a tech reformation have so much work to do—just look at these CEOs positioned like preachers sanctifying Trump.

What is worse than finding time to curl up at the bookstore with a good book and a vegan latte and a napping baby, and the bookstore is closed prematurely? (Okay you don't need to list the things that are worse, though I suppose they'd make a good poem) @portersqbooks.bsky.social :(

After 5 hours of watching and listening to myself talk today: yep, I can imagine how that would happen

Oh no @bencollins.bsky.social, my print copy of @theonion.com sat out on the porch wilting over the holidays! Perhaps an appropriate metaphor for our society? Anyway it's AMAZING! Though as someone with an especially mockable last name, I, uh, hope the next issue gets a new back cover sponsor.

I mean I know one needs to adjust for inflation, but is it possible they overcompensated a bit?

O'Keefe only painted a red amaryllis as far as I can tell, but still these are stunningly reminiscent of several works at the Boston MFA exhibit right now. The obvious similarities in structure and even function, between these plants and our human bodies: a striking reminder that we're all connected

I would literally rather eat live worms dipped in that deadly hot sauce that makes all the celebrities freak out on Hot Ones than draft my texts or have a "fun conversation" with the AI on my phone.

Some accuse humanists and atheists like me of nihilism because we don't happen to believe in a god. That's *prejudice*, but also plain ignorance. Check out #NoLivesMatter, the ideology of Brad Spafford, a strong contender in a crowded field for "maniac of 2025" so far. Now THAT=some nihilistic shit

BWI airport now provides Luxury Surveillance of your toilet, someone must have passed them a copy of @hypervisible.bsky.social's book in progress by that name, which they of course mistook for an instructional manual
