I’m an Independent who is anti-MAGA. Can any Dem reading this help me understand what they expected to gain from allowing a shutdown to occur? I’ve asked in a few threads and nobody has answered. Trying to understand.

Can someone tell me what would have been gained by blocking the bill? You have zero leverage, you’d get no consessions from Rs, you’d be blamed for the shutdown by 80% of Independents, and Musk/DOGE/Trump would have even more power during the shutdown. PS: I’m as anti-MAGA as an Independent can be.

I’m as Independent and anti-MAGA as it gets. Even went to Kamala’s election eve rally in Pittsburgh. But, can someone explain to me what Dems think they would achieve by blocking this bill?
