The response by Goldhaber-Fiebert isn't subtle. The piece points out the deep methodological flaws in the Bendavid paper. 5/

Case in point 2. Here is the "most credible" dataset, with the "most authoritative" assessment as they claim in their response to their critics in the @bostonreview.bsky.social to show that there was no discernable impact from government policies on the pandemic. 3/

#BillAckman can do us all a whole lot of good by just sitting down and keeping quiet for a very long time. He’s been a pernicious influence in American life for too long.

Some charts for those who don't know the extent of the US public (and private) investment in research (particularly in biomedical research) compared to other countries and institutions. The destruction of the US' scientific institutions has global implications.

I am going to be that annoying friend. Get your #COVID & #flu shots. There is little downside to getting immunized and it will spare you from being out sick, having to go to the doctor's office, hospitalization and yes, death. Too many people aren't stepping up to get the shots. Do it this weekend.

This. This. This. @kenmartin.bsky.social @schumer.senate.gov @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social: take note. You organize not by pandering to some mythical center, but by meeting people's needs. This has to be about what people do for each other. Not what your pollsters and consultants advise. Get to work.

Up at @dartmouthcollege.bsky.social for a symposium honoring the former Surgeon General on the occasion of the publication of a new biography. The theme: Moral Courage in an Uncertain Time. We certainly need moral courage at this moment. From all of us.

The @nytimes.com will both-sides everything until the bitter end. One could see them running an op-ed "Perhaps We Deserved It" when Trump comes after them. The Overton window will fall out of its frame one day, taking us all with it, after the paper exhausts the field of false equivalence. end/

I find it odd that you selectively quote Clinton's speech on "deplorables." Why didn't you quote the full bit? It's because with this clip she can be accused of the wrong way of doing politics. She rightly calls out the extremist elements of Trump's followers; then ask for empathy for the rest. 6/

Ta-Nehisi Coates has written the best yet commentary on last week's events, while pundits, politicians and others have disgraced themselves in their whitewashing of of this man's legacy. www.vanityfair.com/news/story/c...

There is violence all around us. Each day is a struggle to remain non-violent, as the poet Muriel Ruskeyser says here in "Waking This Morning." It is a way of life, a way forward. end/

And many think of non-violence as passive submission. It's not what it is. Here the great Gene Sharp explains. 10/
