If the truth compels you and me to resist, to protest, to speak out, and to fight, then that is what we must do.

There seems to be two types happening now.

I find this a time to not be silent, but to speak up and to fight back.

On James 5:13-20..

The way this final passage in James begins reminds me of Ecclesiastes chapter three: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

In effect, James writes:

- if you’re in trouble it’s time to pray
- if you’re happy it’s time to sing…

James 5:1-6 wants the rich people (who are not Christians), to repent because of the coming misery (God’s judgement) against them.

And perhaps he’s writing this about them to encourage believers who are powerless against them and have been oppressed because of their unjust treatment.

Keep doing what you love. Be with people who support you, who get you. Try new things. Keep busy. Love yourself and your family. We got this.

Today in Scripture (Matthew 27):

Barabbas, a convicted felon for instigating an insurrection and murder is set free while an innocent man is sentenced to be crucified.

It was an upside down world gone mad.

Still is.

There are some things we don’t understand.

Like the betrayal of a close friend (Judas).

Like the betrayal of democracy (Trump).

Yet here we are.

Matthew 20:20-28.

Greatness is not characterized by having authority and prominence over others, rather it’s marked by servanthood.

This is how you can distinguish between true leaders who are for (serve) the people, and those who only act to use people for their own gain, power, and prestige.

Matthew 16:5-12. Keep your guard up.

Not much has changed in 2,000+ years. False teachers of a corrupt gospel are prevalent today. You will know them by their greed, selfish ambition, and desire for absolute power.

The look you get on National Dog Day when you chuck the ball to your dog and it hits him on the back. Sorry, Cody.
