the blade runner 2049 ass lobby of the jp morgan chase giga headquarters has a central limestone stair past the glass security gates, and massive steel beams at angles supporting the 3 billion dollar tower. on the sides of the elevator banks are two monumental square shiny enamel on aluminum paintings by gerhard richter, each a jumble of angled, cropped and collaged pieces of bright monochrome colors, as if he cut up pictures of his own color chart paintings and reassembled them at random until he got two compositions he liked enough to fabricate.

unlike his simultanous show at the stable gallery in nyc, cy twombly's exhibition at the little gallery in princeton went almost entirely unnoticed and undocumented. until now, when a researcher found ads for it in the local paper, that misspelled twombly's name

a medium green cotton top with a round neck and full, ruffly sleeves set above the elbow, with pink infinity net loops around the neckline and in tendrils curling down across the bust, and also along the bottom edge, with tendril curling up a few inches. some blobs of net loops in pale blue float across the upper section of the green background. a garment made by yayo kusama being sold at rago in nov 2025

a blurred, ephemeral figure of a white man in a dark suit with his hands behind his back, standing in a christie's gallery showroom, looking into a cream painted crib sculpture by robert gober which has been pushed into the corner, above it a small black and white photo by cindy sherman, an untitled film still not legible at this resolution, and on the wall to the right at an oblique angle that would otherwise preclude identification is a vertical work framed in steel and glass, where the upper half is white and the lower half is black, as if it were a hiroshi sugimoto seascape photo, but it is in fact charles ray's ink drawing, and the ink is just pooled in the bottom half of the space between two panes of glass. this photo was taken by louise lawler and may be the disgraced sex pest art dealer anthony d'offay. this print from the edition belonged to trevor traina, a republican nepo baby son of dede wilsey who was trmp's ambassador to austria, and sold his photo collection at christie's in 2024, but not before registering title to all the works on the blockchain for his crypto wallet startup. this lawler did not sell, and i was not going to download the wallet app to see if it was on chain anyway

seeing this pristine 80yo kitchen in a 160yo georgetown house almost makes up for the fact that it's haunted by the ghost of margaret thatcher
a real estate listing photo of an 80 year old kitchen in a georgetown townhouse has chalk colored metal cupboards on three walls, with a steel-trimmed formica or whatever countertop on dark green painted metal cabinets, all ringing a black and white checkerboard linoleum floor. two steel half moon lights hang from the center of the ceiling, like there used to be a table or island in the middle, but now there is not. there is still a microwave on the countertop though, so weird staging. two windows at the corner in the back over a small radiator and a polished steel garbage can from the container store, probably. time is collapsing, but this rare kitchen will surely be gutted and replaced with a f'ing waterfall edge marble island like every developer simp reno in town

a modern chicago living room with brown leather deco sofa and armchairs facing each other across a giacometti coffee table, while a pair of giacometti armchairs face two french leather side chairs on the other angle, all atop a cream and geometric red wool area rug, on a hardwood floor. getting this all out of the way because the art is the thing here: from left: a richard prince bronze sculpture of a vintage style boy cowboy mannequin on a plywood pedestal in front of a shitty diamond-shaped damien hirst, a fat pale giant baby sculpture by ron mueck peeking up above the sofa, on the floor; an oval hirst spiral splatter painting half covered by a wall that holds a big early rauschenberg screenprint collage painting, with jfk at the center. in a niche behind a polished steel jeff koons inflatable bunny is another oval painting, this one a pop nude woman in pink on a bed. on the largest wall is a richard prince canal zone painitng with inkjet and overpainted collaged figures of rastas on donkeys and white nude pinup models from a taschen book, and not only did the publishers not sue prince for including the images, the book was given to prince by the publishers in the first place. and then on the far right, so to speak, is a crap plaster venus by jeff koons with a deep blue gazing ball balanaced on it. give credit to the edlis neesons, they were loyal to their megadealers. image via christie's and copyrighted within an inch of its life for longer than the edlis neesons' collection will be shown together at at the art institute of chicago screenshot of text from a christie's photo caption with more copyrights than anyone but the ars could imagine: More than 40 groundbreaking works of art and design from Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson’s Chicago residence, pictured here, will be offered, first on 19 November in Christie’s 21st Century Evening Sale Featuring Works from the Edlis | Neeson Collection, followed by the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale on 20 November. happy the gettys selling manet dog portraits perfectly sized for fleeing nazis with day to all who celebrate greg.org/archive/2022...
a shaggy painted mass of white and grey with black accents on the ears, around the mostly covered eyes, and on the denser nose coalesces into the 3/4 portrait of a little dog with its front legs extended. a pink tongue sticks out in the near center of the painting, and is echoed but not matched by three thick brushstrokes of unmixed red, hints of a bow around the dog's neck, perhaps. floating in the upper right corner of the featureless light blue brushy background is the name of the dog, brushed in yellowy white cursive, that I swear reads Douki or Souki, but the gettys who owned this painting, and christies who sold it, says is the more marketable name of donki. naming rights go to the buyer i guess. an adorable columnar tornado of brushstrokes in a fairly narrow range of browns the color of dulce de leche also has two dark eyes and a black nose embedded in it, and is painted against a brushy black background. in red letters is painted "Bob," the name of the terrier whose portrait Edouard Manet painted in 1876, sold by the gettys in 2022

Olafur Eliasson's first photo grid was snapshots of a visit to a famous-in-Iceland rock collector's house museum. In 1995 he made a series of big (1m sq) semi-abstract photos of agates called Big Stone, that afaik, have never been shown or published, just resold greg.org/archive/2025...

Manet's first plein air painting is also his first dog portrait. he posed Plydie on his friend's dad's lap in 1861, and the Ambroise Adam family has kept the painting ever since. Until next week, anyway. They're selling it at Christie's during Art Basel Paris greg.org/archive/2025...
