Made a little friend in the garden who did a little dance for me. Only now looking up what it is did I learn it’s an invasive Chinese mantis (though long-introduced since 1896 in the US). Are the funky moves an adaptation to distract ignorant morons like me from catching on to its secret?

Amazed by Merlin Bird ID. Was just walking the dogs and a bird the shape/size of a red-tailed hawk swooped by and perched on a branch. It had a distinctive striped tail I had never seen. Even with the potato quality of this photo from far away, the correct species "Red-shouldered Hawk" was option 3!
