The experiment to use Synology Drive to sync between house computers has failed. It always recomputes syncing for all the files that aren't being synced, which takes 15 minutes. And of course Synology requires SSL tricks, which Windows doesn't like. And let's tease them for this macOS UI.

I appreciate The Guardian in moments like this. Their clear thinking and writing pushes right past the smokescreen of bad faith defenses, and relies instead on reality itself. NYT has, as usual, a Maggie Haberman blow-by-blow of how he was feeling right before breaking the law.

One measure from Pew of the additional suffering that Gen AI brought into the world. It’s another tech that is cutting us off from each other, which of course does benefit a specific group.

Looking into music programming. I found AudioKit’s examples/docs a little scattershot, raising the bar. I was delighted to find a student project called HiSynth by @jtchen.bsky.social at https://github.com/jtchen2k/hisynth. It’s a polyphonic SwiftUI synth that will help me a lot!

I’m glad Pew asked this question: AI experts think AI will help them *personally*. Are they saying that because they think it will help everyone? Or is it the reverse, that they will benefit and so they are selling it? Is it like the internet in 1995, or like bitcoin?

Conservatism’s primal scream

I won’t get exasperated by news stories that show the administration doing unpopular things. I won’t feel angry at his voters for approving these actions. I won’t feel smug that he is burning his political capital. Because the decisive mass of voters will never hear of any of it.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice in Chains

This is how I see you if you are in favor of minority rule, voter suppression, unpopular bans, and all the other inherently hierarchical ideas we've lived with since time immemorial.
