Stopped into Sigla Books #yyc this evening for the first time. Had a great chat with David, the proprietor. A great place for odd, obscure, and choice books. Picked up this biography on a hero of mine, photographer Edward Steichen. 👍🏻
You should check it out.

Realized today is National Mutt Day. Here’s a tribute to the best mutt there ever was. Still miss this little guy.

Tonight’s documentary:The Stringer-The Man Who Took The Photo (via Netflix)
“A 2025 documentary directed by Bao Nguyen. It presents a two-year investigation on the matter, arguing that a photo stringer named Nguyen Thanh Nghe actually took it rather than the officially credited photographer Nick Ut.”

Many years ago I did a shoot with Luisa on the roof of my studio. It was before digital, so shot on film and lit with strobe. Love the powerful feeling of this one!

Shot this a few years ago. The image reminded me a bit of a Momento Mori type photo. Did a little work to give it an antique feel.

The other day I was at a shop and I paid for my item with cash. Remember cash? It’s what we used before tap. 😉
This is what I found in my change back: two 1951 nickles with King George on the reverse! And they’re pretty good shape considering they’re 74 years old..

Today’s documentary: Zef-The Story of Die Antwoord
(via Prime)
“The story of the controversial South African band Die Antwoord. Tracing them from their humble beginnings to global phenomenon. Like their music the documentary is shocking, provocative, highly creative and strangely funny.”

Years ago, I made a trip to Moscow with @lenmastaler.agent
One day I came across a small stand near Red Square. The person was selling a variety of things. I bought this surplus military belt from the past USSR era.

Long, hatchet face, brown hair, and haunting gaze,
That follows as you move about the room,
Ah! That is she who trod the darkening ways,
And plucked the flowers on the edge of doom.

Many years ago, I had an industrial designer create my portfolio case. It was steel with my logo etched on the lid. The pages were brushed aluminum and the prints were mounted on top. It was pretty cool at the time, but cost a fortune to FedEx any place. 💰

If you enjoy what you do, you can be BOTH working hard and hardly working.

A bit of juxtaposition with old buildings and new. And, for some reason, I like that grate in the bottom center of the composition.

Saw this in front of Arts Commons today. It seems to be a piece of pop-up art. Whatever it is, it’s cool.

Passed by the Glenbow Museum today. It’s looking pretty sweet from the outside. Can’t wait to be able to visit again.

Going through a few old boxes and came across some of the wet plate tintypes I shot awhile back. Really enjoyed doing this stuff.
