I am currently visiting Amsterdam. My email brought the news that the UK court declared that trans women are not women. This was while in line to enter the Anne Frank house. The story of her persecution and eventual death was just too close to our reality in the US today. We did not learn.

I do not know what to expect on that day, but I fear that any vestiges of a country governed by The Constitution and the rule of law will disappear.

So, I will enjoy my days in Amsterdam, and face our new reality when I return.

Tomorrow I depart with friends on a long-awaited trip to Amsterdam. I am excited, but also apprehensive. I am not concerned about entering The Netherlands, but will I be welcomed back to the country of my birth? That will be the date when some are expecting a “state of emergency” to be declared.
